Sometimes the best option for your tooth is a gold crown. However, in the large majority of cases, our doctors recommend high-precision porcelain restorations. We make high-precision restorations with our OmniCam robotic mill. These CAD/CAM porcelain crowns, veneers & onlays are the most natural appearing restorations possible. Our doctors are experts with this revolutionary technology.
As always, the benefits of CEREC restorations include:
No more temporary crowns! Old style crowns needed to be made at a lab outside our office. Patients would wear a temporary crown until the permanent one was completed at the lab. The temporary cement used has a weak bond, often resulting in the temporary crown coming off. If this happens, the patient needs an extra visit to the office to have it put back in. A lab crown can take 2-3 weeks, and patients would be wearing a temporary crown for this period.
Another huge benefit is that we no longer need to take impressions with that “gooey” material in a bulky tray. We simply dry your teeth and scan! Your crown is designed by the dentist on the CEREC computer, and you can watch it being designed and made in our office.
We customize the look of your new crown in office. Every smile is unique and we can make sure your new crown blends right in! Customized shade matching is done for every new crown. Our patients even have a difficult time determining which tooth is the new crown! Our staining and glazing oven is on site and ready to make you a beautiful custom-matched restoration.
Anyone interested in brightening your smile? The Cerec robot and our accomplished Dentists can help! Porcelain veneers can change the shape and color of your teeth. We have the ability to give you the Hollywood smile that you have always wished for, and we can give it to you in a matter of days!
The image above is a scan of the quadrant, in which the tooth is ready for the crown design. It is a 3D computer model that can be manipulated digitally to provide the best fitting restoration possible.
Above is an image of a crown being shaped out of a porcelain block in the CEREC’s Milling Chamber. The milling process takes between 10 – 20 minutes. When the crown has completed the milling process, it will be tried in the mouth and adjusted. Once the fit is verified, the crown will be custom stained, glazed, and fired in our glazing oven. A visual examination to admire and give final approval for shade, then the CEREC crown or veneer is placed with cement to complete your smile. No more waiting for the cement to dry! The new cement is set with a special light, so when you leave here you can drink and eat immediately as long as your aren’t feeling too numb.
Finally, if your crown procedure requires a margin below your gum line then we are uniquely equipped to provide that kind of advanced care due to the fact that we have a industry leading dental laser system known as the Light Walker ATS (Neodymium & Erbium dual laser system). This industry shifting technology allows us to do things that were not possible before its advent. Please visit our office and speak to our team of dedicated professionals about your dental needs.
