Notice To Patients About Scheduling:

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS is not accepting exam appointments, checkups or cleanings.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS accepts only surgical procedures that require special attention due to some complications.

If the patient has a problem that may require Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS then they must first have examination with our associate dentists.

After the associate dentist treatment plans a surgical procedure that requires special attention, the patient will then be offered an appointment with Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS for consult and/or treatment.

Bad news is he can't do your checkup/cleaning anymore. Good news is he will be standing by if someone in your family needs a tough extraction or root canal one day.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS (and all the dentists in our dental office) are only general dentists. You should always get second opinion or expert level care from specialist dentists such as endodontist, oral surgeon, periodontist, prosthodontist, orthodontist and/or pedodontist to get the highest level of care. Specialist dentists are far superior to general dentist in every way. They have amazing training that is much more advanced than a general dentist. Furthermore, they have experience that is light years ahead of any general dentist's experience with these complicated procedures. Thus, even though Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS and other general dentists perform extractions, root canals and implants we can never hope to have the same level of expertise as a formally trained specialist dentist. Thus, we recommend Dr. Charles Fields Periodontist, Dr. Pedram Yahgmaie Oral Surgeon, Brian A. Mahler, DDS, Prosthodontist, Dr. Lan Tran Orthodontist, Dr. Alan Wonhee Lee, DDS, MS endodontist, etc.

What Services Does an Emergency Dentist in Reston VA Offer?

Published October 2nd, 2024 by RTC Dental

When you’re in need of urgent dental care, it’s crucial to know what services an emergency dentist in Reston, VA can provide. This ensures you get the right care quickly and effectively. In this FAQ, we will explore the variety of services offered by emergency dentists in Reston to help you understand your options and make informed decisions about your dental health.

Immediate Pain Relief

One of the primary services offered by emergency dentists is immediate pain relief. Whether you’re dealing with a severe toothache, gum pain, or other oral discomfort, emergency dentists can provide treatments to alleviate your pain.

Immediate pain relief is critical when you’re experiencing severe dental discomfort. Emergency dentists in Reston, VA often use a variety of techniques to diagnose and treat the source of your pain quickly and effectively. For some, this may involve administering local anesthesia or pain medications to minimize discomfort during treatment.

This service is especially essential as untreated dental pain can lead to further complications. For example, a seemingly small toothache might be the sign of an underlying issue, such as an infection or cavity, which could worsen if not dealt with promptly. Emergency dentists ensure that the pain is managed while addressing the root cause of the problem.

Examples of treatments that might be provided include filling cavities, treating infections, or even performing a root canal if necessary. Reston Dental Center emphasizes that whether the pain is from a basic or more complex issue, getting timely attention can prevent escalation and offer significant relief. The professionals at this center make immediate pain relief a top priority.

Emergency Tooth Extractions

In cases where a tooth cannot be saved, emergency dentists perform extractions to prevent further damage or infection. They will ensure the process is as quick and painless as possible.

Tooth extractions might sound daunting, but it’s a common and necessary procedure to prevent more severe dental issues. An emergency dentist in Reston, VA, will carefully evaluate your situation to see if extraction is the best course of action, especially if the tooth is severely damaged or infected beyond repair.

The extraction process itself is typically straightforward. Your emergency dentist will numb the area thoroughly to ensure you’re comfortable and may employ advanced techniques to remove the tooth with minimal discomfort. This step not only alleviates pain but also curtails the risk of the infection spreading.

At Prompt Dentistry, they stress the importance of quick intervention to handle cases that might lead to serious health complications if not treated promptly. Whether it’s removing a broken tooth fragment or dealing with a more complex situation, emergency dentists are prepared to handle it efficiently.

Treatment for Dental Injuries

Emergency dentists are skilled at treating dental injuries, such as chipped, broken, or knocked-out teeth. They use advanced techniques to repair and restore your teeth, helping you regain your smile.

When it comes to dental injuries, time is of the essence. A prompt response from an emergency dentist can make a significant difference in saving a knocked-out tooth or repairing a severely chipped one. Emergency dentists in Reston, VA, are trained to handle these injuries with precision.

For instance, if you have a knocked-out tooth due to an accident, placing it in a glass of milk or saline solution until you reach the dentist can increase the chances of successful reinsertion. Expertise in emergency treatment allows dentists to reattach and stabilize the tooth effectively. In some cases, they might also use splints to keep the tooth secure as it heals.

Chipped or broken teeth require different approaches depending on the extent of the damage. Emergency dentists may use bonding materials or veneers to restore the tooth’s appearance and functionality. At Reston Dental Center, the dental team is adept at providing immediate care that focuses on both aesthetics and oral health, ensuring your smile remains intact.

Management of Infections or Abscesses

Dental infections or abscesses can be serious and require prompt attention. Emergency dentists can diagnose and treat these conditions, often providing antibiotics or other necessary medications to control the infection.

Infections or abscesses can not only cause immense pain but also pose serious health risks if left untreated. An abscess, which is a pocket of infection, may not be immediately visible but can result in significant complications if it spreads.

Emergency dentists evaluate the severity of the infection and provide the necessary treatment to contain and remove it. This usually involves draining the abscess and prescribing antibiotics to prevent further infection. Follow-up care is crucial and often recommended to ensure the infection is completely resolved.

The professionals at Prompt Dentistry stress the importance of immediate care for dental infections. They recommend that patients seek prompt treatment to avoid the escalation of symptoms, as untreated infections can lead to more extensive health problems involving other parts of the body.

Repair and Restoration Services

From temporary fillings to emergency crowns, emergency dentists offer various repair and restoration services. These treatments help protect your teeth until you can receive permanent treatment from your regular dentist.

Restorative services in emergency dentistry are vital for maintaining the health and appearance of your teeth when unexpected damage occurs. Whether you have a lost filling, a broken crown, or other structural issues, emergency dentists can provide temporary solutions.

Emergency crowns and fillings help maintain dental integrity and prevent sensitivity or further damage until a permanent repair can be made. These temporary restorations are crafted to uphold the functional aspects of the tooth and ensure comfort until a more comprehensive treatment plan can be executed.

Some situations might involve dental bonding or other quick fixes to cover exposed areas and alleviate discomfort. The dentists at Reston Dental Center utilize state-of-the-art technology to deliver timely repair solutions, enabling you to manage day-to-day activities without interruption.
