Notice To Patients About Scheduling:

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS is not accepting exam appointments, checkups or cleanings.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS accepts only surgical procedures that require special attention due to some complications.

If the patient has a problem that may require Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS then they must first have examination with our associate dentists.

After the associate dentist treatment plans a surgical procedure that requires special attention, the patient will then be offered an appointment with Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS for consult and/or treatment.

Bad news is he can't do your checkup/cleaning anymore. Good news is he will be standing by if someone in your family needs a tough extraction or root canal one day.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS (and all the dentists in our dental office) are only general dentists. You should always get second opinion or expert level care from specialist dentists such as endodontist, oral surgeon, periodontist, prosthodontist, orthodontist and/or pedodontist to get the highest level of care. Specialist dentists are far superior to general dentist in every way. They have amazing training that is much more advanced than a general dentist. Furthermore, they have experience that is light years ahead of any general dentist's experience with these complicated procedures. Thus, even though Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS and other general dentists perform extractions, root canals and implants we can never hope to have the same level of expertise as a formally trained specialist dentist. Thus, we recommend Dr. Charles Fields Periodontist, Dr. Pedram Yahgmaie Oral Surgeon, Brian A. Mahler, DDS, Prosthodontist, Dr. Lan Tran Orthodontist, Dr. Alan Wonhee Lee, DDS, MS endodontist, etc.

7 Ways Family Dentistry Can Improve Your Oral Health

Published September 8th, 2024 by RTC Dental

Boost your oral health with insights from '7 Ways Family Dentistry Can Improve Your Oral Health'!

When it comes to taking care of our oral health, the choice of a dental practice can make all the difference. Opting for a family dentistry practice can provide benefits that go beyond convenience and familiarity. In a friendly, conversational tone, let’s explore how family dentistry can uplift your oral health game, making dental care a seamless, comprehensive experience for everyone from toddlers to grandparents.

1. Comprehensive Care under One Roof

The convenience of having a single dental practice for all family members cannot be overstated. Family dentistry provides a broad spectrum of services—from routine cleanings to more complex procedures like root canals and cosmetic dentistry. This means that regardless of the dental needs that arise, from the teething toddler to the grandparent in need of dentures, every treatment can be handled in a familiar setting.

This unified approach not only fosters ease in scheduling but also ensures continuity of care. Having a single team aware of your family’s dental history offers the advantage of tailored care, which can be pivotal in preventing hereditary dental issues or addressing lifestyle-related dental concerns.

2. Early Detection and Prevention

The cornerstone of maintaining excellent oral health is in the early detection and prevention of diseases. Regularly visiting a family dentist allows for consistent monitoring of your and your family’s oral health. This proactive approach is crucial as it aids in identifying potential issues before they escalate into serious problems, ensuring that interventions are as non-invasive as possible.

Moreover, family dentists are equipped to provide educational resources and preventive treatments, such as fluoride applications or dental sealants, which play a significant role in avoiding decay, especially in children.

3. Cultivating Healthy Habits

Instilling good oral hygiene practices from a young age is essential, and family dentists excel in educating both children and adults on the importance of maintaining oral health. Through engaging explanations and demonstrations, patients of all ages learn the proper techniques for brushing, flossing, and other aspects of oral care that are crucial for preventing dental diseases.

These education sessions are more than just instructional; they are transformative, encouraging a holistic approach to oral health that integrates it as a component of overall wellness. This educational foundation can lead to lifelong oral health practices that ensure healthy teeth and gums.

4. Familiarity and Comfort

The relationship that develops over time with a family dentist offers a level of comfort and trust that is hard to replicate in a setting where you see a new provider at every visit. This familiarity is particularly beneficial for children or members of the family who may feel anxious about dental appointments. Knowing what to expect and who will be providing the care can significantly reduce dental anxiety.

5. Convenience for Busy Families

Family dentistry practices truly understand the dynamics of busy schedules. With the possibility to schedule back-to-back appointments for all family members, these practices eliminate the need for multiple trips, saving time and streamlining care. It’s a practical choice for families striving to juggle various commitments while ensuring they don’t neglect the vital aspect of dental health.

6. Monitoring Dental Development in Children

A significant aspect of family dentistry revolves around monitoring and guiding the dental development of children. From the eruption of the first tooth through to the alignment of adult teeth, family dentists play an integral role. This close observation ensures that any developmental issues can be addressed promptly, potentially avoiding the need for extensive orthodontic treatment in the future.

7. Emergency Dental Services

Life is unpredictable, and dental emergencies can occur at the most inconvenient times. Having a family dentist means you have someone to turn to in these critical moments—someone familiar with your dental history who can provide immediate, comprehensive care. This access can be immensely reassuring in stressful situations, ensuring that you receive the necessary attention without delay.
